Naogaon is a city named after a village called Naogaon. Former Naogaon thanas and subdivisions are named after the town of Naogaon and now Naogaon upazila and district. Naogaon has changed its name to Naogaon, consisting of nine adjoining chalks or settlements. The river Jamuna flows through Naogaon Sadar Upazila. Naogaon Sadar upazila consists of 12 unions and one municipality. There is a food warehouse or LSD in this upazila. Paddy and rice are collected in the food warehouse. There are 21 automatic boiled rice mills, 245 boiled hasking rice mills and 13 atap rice mills in this upazila.
